🌿 Forest School: Looking After God’s Creation 🌿
What a wonderful first session of Forest School! 🌳🍂
This week, we began our Forest School journey by exploring the theme “Looking After God’s Creation.” The children had the opportunity to get outdoors, connect with nature, explore their surroundings and think about how we can care for the amazing world God has given us.
Forest School provides so many benefits for children. It encourages curiosity, creativity, confidence and independence, while developing teamwork, problem-solving and resilience.
Most importantly, Forest School gives us a chance to slow down, wonder at creation and appreciate the beauty around us. 🌱
We’re looking forward to many more adventures, learning, playing and growing together! 💚

🔢 Maths at Our Lady’s 🔢
At Our Lady’s, every Maths lesson begins with fluency and a recap of previous learning. This consistent approach gives our children regular opportunities to revisit key skills and strengthen their understanding.
But why is this so important? 🧠
Regularly recalling and practising previously taught learning helps children move knowledge into their long-term memory, making it easier to remember and apply when they meet new and more challenging concepts.
These short, purposeful activities help build confidence, strengthen mathematical foundations and ensure that important learning sticks! ⭐

🚣♀️🌊 Year 5 & 6 Bell Boating Adventure! 🌊🚣♂️
What a fantastic time our Year 5 and 6 pupils had bell boating on the beautiful River Avon! ☀️
The children embraced the challenge and had the opportunity to develop some fantastic skills along the way, including teamwork, communication, confidence and water safety. They quickly discovered that working together and listening to each other was the key to getting the boat moving in the right direction! 🙌
There were plenty of smiles, laughter and a few splashes along the way! 💦😄 It was wonderful to see everyone encouraging one another, trying something new and having so much fun out on the water.
A brilliant day full of adventure, learning and teamwork — well done, Year 5 and 6! ⭐️👏

We absolutely love making time for reading for pleasure at Our Lady’s! ❤️ There’s nothing quite like getting lost in a good book and discovering new stories, characters and worlds.
Reading for pleasure helps children to develop their vocabulary, imagination and confidence, while also supporting their wellbeing, concentration and communication skills. Most importantly, it helps children discover the joy of reading simply because they want to! 🌟
