Phonics Training

Today is a Teacher Training Day and we’ve welcomed colleagues from St. Thomas More, St. Mary's Henley and Our Lady's and St. Teresa's to join us for Read Write Inc Phonics training.

This week, we have been learning about the importance of Holy Week. The children really enjoyed using drama to retell the Last Supper!

Maple Class Assembly

Reception performed their first Class Assembly in front of their families and the whole school today! The children were amazing and they told the story of Palm Sunday perfectly! Well done, Maple Class!

Encouraging the Bees!

It's was a busy session at Gardening Club this week! We have scattered wild flower seed bombs around our orchard to try and encourage the bees to pollinate our fruit trees . We checked how our beans were growing and made a bug hotel! Molly and Izzy took a walk round the garden looking at the flowering bulbs and smelling the herbs!

Easter Competition

This morning, we had the honour of welcoming the Mayor and Mayoress in to school to judge the Easter competition! They were greeted with a variety of wonderfully made bonnets and gardens! Well done, children!

Wave Your Flag!

Today was Cultural Heritage Day . Along with our English , Irish , Welsh and Scottish representatives, we also had children in national dress for Pakistan , Spain , South Africa , India and the Philippines !

Planting Beans

During Gardening Club this week, the children planted four different types of beans and three different types of squash, to be kept inside. Reception will look after the beans as this links with their book 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. We also moved some rockery stones to start making a rockery wall around the area. We hope to have plants grow in it and entice bugs to make homes!

New Football Kits!

Well done to our Year Six boys on their football match today. We're sure you'll agree, they looking brilliant in their new kit - thank you to BDR for sponsoring it! A great game and admirable team spirit shown by the lads!

Cross Country Champion

Congratulations to one of our Year Four girls, Rafaella, who took part in the National Cross Country race, held on Saturday! She came 23rd out of 150 competitors! We're super proud of her!

Supporting Fr. Hudson's Charity

It was lovely to welcome Margo from Fr. Hudson's into school today. She spoke to us about the 'Good Shepherd Appeal' and the types of people the charity supports! We look forward to supporting this charity with our 'Purple Pound Day' during Lent.

Library Visit

This afternoon, Oak class had the opportunity to visit Alcester Library! The children discovered how the books are organised, they designed a book cover and they made vehicles and volcanoes out of Lego.

There was excitement today, as we welcomed Dan from BBC CWR to interview some of our pupils. We are proud to share we are BBC CWR's Star School this week! Tune in to the Breakfast Show to hear the interview!

This afternoon, we joined St Benedict's Catholic High School, Alcester Academy and Alcester Grammar School at Oversley Hill Farm to plant tree saplings! Working together, we planted over 150 trees!

Girls' Football Match

Our girls enjoyed their second football match today. They had great fun and you could see their confidence gaining as the match went on. We are super proud of their team spirit!
